ADMINISTRATOR, HEARTLAND REGION
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PASTORAL COUNSELORS
The Organization
The American Association of Pastoral Counselors was founded in 1963 as a membership and certification organization whose mission is to provide spiritually informed and integrated counseling, collaborative community based services, training and education in order to enhance the well being of individuals, families and communities.
We begin with the Heartland Region Mission Statement: To bring healing, hope, and wholeness to individuals, families, and communities by expanding and equipping spiritually grounded and psychologically informed care, counseling, and psychotherapy.
The Heartland Region of AAPC is made up of over 500 members spread across 10 States and one Canadian Province: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Manitoba Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
At our recent Conference we began the process of creating our Region as a dynamic, active effort that intends to: cultivate the wisdom of those already experienced in our mission; mentor caregivers as they embrace this powerful view of therapy; communicate our vision to a wide variety of professional caregivers; and produce a variety of conferences around the Region.
The AAPC Heartland Region, in accordance with the national AAPC standards, is non-sectarian and respects the spiritual commitments, theological perspectives and religious traditions of both professional caregivers and those who seek professional assistance.
The Heartland Region will continue to develop its relationship with all the AAPC Regions, sharing resources and supporting each other’s missions.
Position Objective
In collaboration and under the direction of the Board and Committee Chairs, the Regional Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring that membership, marketing, and fundraising campaigns are integrated with program development. The Administrator will exercise leadership and management responsibility to ensure efficient services and develop and perform activities that market the AAPC Region and its services to potential members and users across a broad spectrum of individuals, groups, and organiuzations within the helping professions.

Qualifications
Experience: Experience in leading or managing nonprofit organizations
Prior experience in marketing
Experience in counseling preferred.
Education/Licensing: Degree in counseling or allied health profession preferred.
Required Skills
Working Conditions
The Administrator will work from their home, with a flexible schedule.
Some travel across the Region is required; most work is via teleconferencing and/or videoconferencing.
Work will average 20 hours/week, although some weeks may be more or less.
Salary is $25/hour.

- Provide administrative support to Board members in the areas of Communication, Membership, Mentorship, Education, Leadership, and Conference Programming.
- Develop marketing strategies to promote the Heartland Region of AAPC to potential members and current users.

Qualifications
Experience: Experience in leading or managing nonprofit organizations
Prior experience in marketing

- Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Ability to prepare useful, succinct and informative written communications and make presentations.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals and groups with tact, diplomacy, and adaptability.
- Proficiency in information technology, e.g., management of informational database, facility with word programming and budget management.
- Ability to organize video and audio conferencing preferred.
